Do UGG Boots Stretch?

Posted by Renee Dadswell on

In a word – yes. All genuine sheepskin stretches, so if your UGGs are constructed from sheepskin (which all authentic UGGs should be), you can expect your boots to stretch over time. This is precisely why you should ensure your UGGs are snug and cosy when you first try them on, as they will stretch about half a size over time.

When choosing your size at UGG Since 1974, you should choose your ordinary shoe size, and certainly avoid “sizing up a size” like many synthetic sheepskin boot manufacturers recommend. If you buy a larger size than normal, and factor in that the boot will stretch, you’ll be left with UGGs which are no longer a warm, cosy fit for you.

What if you’re ordinarily a half size? At UGG Since 1974, some of our customers surprised to learn that genuine UGG boots are not made in half sizes. Again, this is because the nature of sheepskin is to stretch approximately half a size as the wool comfortably moulds around your foot. So if you’re a foot measures slightly bigger than a Size 7, you’d be best suited to a Size 7 UGG boot, as it won’t be long before you get that extra stretch from your UGGs. However, if you’re a 7.5 or somewhere between a Size 7.5 and a Size 8, then Size 8 is likely to be the best size for you.

Overall, UGG boots are loved around the world because they are so incredibly comfortable, and the good news is that if you’re thinking of gifting a pair of UGGs but aren’t sure of the size, there’s usually a bit of room to move. If the UGG boots end up being slightly firm to start, they’ll stretch. Slightly too big, and there’s always the option to pair UGGs with socks to fill out the boots a little better.

What about my socks with UGGs? Premium quality UGG boots are designed to be worn without socks, and we’ve answered this question here too. Our sizing is also designed around feet, rather than feet and chucky socks, so please keep this in mind when placing your order.
